Where technique meets queer joy, and every lane is a runway.

KC Wave currently holds one glorious weekly practice at the Roeland Park Aquatic Center —Tuesday evenings from 6:45-8:00 PM.
Beginning in September, we will return to the Swinney Recreation Center on the UMKC campus — Tuesday evenings from 7:45–9:00 PM.
💙✨ Workouts for Every Fabulous Body
Our practices come in three iconic levels: Hard, Harder, and Hardest — because why not make it sound like a drag competition category.
- Hard — Designed for swimmers who are new to team workouts or returning after a break. Think: building fitness, endurance, and technique without feeling like you’re auditioning for the Olympics.
- Harder — A step up for swimmers with some experience who want a little extra spice.
- Hardest — For the seasoned swimmers who love all four strokes and aren’t afraid of a challenge. (We see you, overachievers. We love you.)
Choose your level each week based on how you feel — no judgment, no pressure, just queer empowerment and chlorinated joy.

🏊♂️🌈 Example KC Wave Workout
Here is an example workout. You might see it as easy, or as daunting. New swimmers struggle their first few practices — it’s normal, expected, and honestly part of the charm. If you haven’t been swimming regularly, of course it’s going to feel tough. But give it a few weeks and you’ll be cruising through the sets like the aquatic legend you were always meant to be.
📚✨ Practice Resources
Our practice leaders pull inspiration from all over the internet — like queer alchemists turning drills and sets into workouts that make you sweat, smile, and occasionally question your life choices.
